7 Inspirational Advent Season Activities
1. Advent Calendar

One of the best Christian Advent Calendars, and most popular I might add, is the Precious Moments “O Come Let Us Adore Him” nativity calendar. It comes with 26 pieces to build your nativity each day piece by piece. It is crafted in cold-cast resin and carefully hand painted.
I love having a nativity set up for the Christmas season. This Advent Calendar Nativity makes it fun to build with the family while still keeping the focus on the coming of Jesus’ birth each day. Please remember, it is an Advent Calendar, so it is smaller than normal Precious Moments as they have to fit in the numbered drawers.
Another bonus? You get a Advent Storybook Poem with a special reading each day to read as a family.

2. Advent Wreath with Advent Candles

One of the best Advent Wreaths I have seen is this beautiful Advent Wreath Ring Candle Holder, perfect for the pillar Advent Candles that will last for many Advent Seasons. I don’t have this particular one, but I do have one similar as my wreath has lasted many years. This one comes highly recommended and is perfect to have sitting in the middle of your table for you and your family to light each week. Don’t forget the candles as they do not come with the wreath.
I love having an Advent Wreath to celebrate the coming of Christ. See, each week represents something different. Week 1 is Hope. Week 2 is Joy. Week 3 is Peace. Week 4 is Love.
I wanted you to have something to read each day also. I made these special for you. Check out my Free Advent Season Inspiration Bible Verses to read when lighting each candle and then one a day for the rest of the week.

3. Advent Season Storybook

Reading the stories of the Bible to your kids never gets old and with 25 Advent Season Bible Stories to read and show why Jesus came is one amazing way to see the love our Father has for all of us, big and small. This book will take you and your family through almost the entire 28 days we have of the Advent Season.
This book is beautifully illustrated and connects the entire message of the first coming of our Messiah from the Old Testatment to the New Testament, ending with the fulfillment of God’s Promise. The pictures are beautifully done and bring the stories to life.
Each story starts with a bible verse and then transcends into a story short enough to keep your child’s attention while pointing to the need for a Savior from the very beginning. At the end of the story is a question which can lead into the start of a great discussion with your family.
This can be a new tradition to have each and every year during the Advent Season. What a great way to focus as a family on what the true meaning of the season is all about. The first coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
But wait, there’s more. 😂 Did you know there is an Advent Coloring Book you can also purchase for your littles to continue on with the story of the day? Why not give them a chance to color while making a connection to what they just read? The more we can all make connections to what we are reading, the better the Bible Stories will remain in our head.

4. Advent Activity – Jesse Tree

A great Advent Activity is decorating a Jesse Tree. This is an activity which can turn into a tradition where you decorate a small tree with ornaments that represent people and events in the Bible from Adam and Eve up to Jesus’ birth. Through the verses, children make connections between the Old and New Testaments to see God’s perfect plan to bring us back to himself through Jesus.
If you didn’t already know, this tree is named after Jesse, the father of King David, Jesus’ lineage. This kit includes 25 ornaments with a scripture on the back, a countdown to Christmas picture book and reference guide. The only thing you need is a small tree.
Here are a couple of ideas. This tree is perfect to be hung on a wall with the ornaments to make the Jesse tree.

5. Advent Season Activity – A Thread Running Through It
This is such a great idea that I got from “The Wonder of Advent” published by Lifeway Women. In this activity you are making a bracelet with the focus being on a thread that runs through it. That thread is a representation of Jesus that connects all of the stories together.

Directions:
- Cut the cardboard tube into 1-2″ thick slices. Then cut through each slice to create a cuff bracelet.
- Use some glue or tape to secure the end of a long piece of yarn along the edge of your cardboard bracelet. Wrap the entire piece of cardboard until it is fully covered. Secure the end with more glue or tape.
- Next, grab a different colored piece of yarn and tape or glue the end onto the inside of the bracelet. Weave the piece of yarn through the other yarn, making a pattern horizontally to your vertically wrapped bracelet. Once finished, tape or glue the end on the inside of the bracelet.
